A burden in triviality!

Why has making trivial decisions become a burdensome task?

Overthinking is no longer limited to life-changing decisions. Lately it’s applied to every simple decision-making.

From choosing pen to pants, blue to black, pizza to parathas, whether selecting clothes, color or cuisine, every decision is keenly thought after.

As there are a gazillion options available in every category, we spend an unreasonable amount of time scrutinizing every possible outcome in order to make the best selection.

When making best decision becomes the paramount purpose, overthinking takes the front seat.

Then people inevitably over-analyze all courses of action to reach to the most suitable outcome.

And the main purpose that needed the decision-making in the first place, takes the backseat.

There could be several factors contributing to this behavior:

  1. The abundance of choices available today are abundantly accompanied by comparison and confusion.
  2. People check across a plethora of reviews and recommendations hoping that someone out there has the perfect answer, only to end up more confused.
  3. The pressure of making the best decision. Anything less than the best comes with an overwhelming amount of regret, especially after having access to so much information.

People at restaurants take hours to finally give an order and instantly have second thoughts whether they still want the food they ordered or should have opted for a different cuisine!

Decision-making itself is not a tough task. We make it like so by adorning it with overthinking, confusion, comparison and the pressure to choose the best.

Life itself is complicated enough to keep us occupied, diverting your energy in overthinking simple decisions is just not worth it. Make a good enough choice that solves the purpose and move forward.

Instead of waiting for the perfect option,

Take the decision and make it perfect!
